Lingerie is for the most part a very personal and intimate item to purchase for another woman. It is for this reason that the number of guests invited to a bridal lingerie shower be limited. It is sometimes prudent to keep the group to five or six such as friends or sorority sisters or the like. Also remember that the specific lingerie that a bride will wear under her gown will need to match her dress. Most, if not all guests will have difficulty chosing appropriate undergarments.

Also be sensitive to any older women attending the shower who may be “bothered” by the lingerie theme. If there are mothers, grandmothers, and great aunts present, a suggestion for the invite would be to call the shower a “Lingerie and Spa” Shower. List a few suggestions such as bath oils, towels, facial massage masks, eye masks for sleeping, and the like. Make all the invitees feel comfortable so they do not stress about the gift thinking that everyone is expected to bring panties and bras.
